Joan Miro 1899-1983, Barcelona, Spain
Etching, Aquating, Carborundum on Arches paper “H.C.” 1969
Published by Galerie Maeght, Paris.
Miro was a prolific artist who worked as a painter, sculptor, muralist and ceramicist. He is known for his abstract surrealism and sometimes Fauvism and Expressionism – recreating the childlike. “…a method of random “automatism” drawing that attempted to express the inner workings of the human psyche.”
75 lithographs were produced from the original painting, first an “H.C.” – hors commerce (NFS). H.C. designation is either the 1st proof or 1st lithograph made to set the lithograph run and are never for sale, they are given to the artist for approval of the run and their general value is 20-50% greater than the limited edition lithograph price.
Miro designed the 1969 label for Chateau Mouton Rothschild.
Miro has works featured in the permanent collections in the Museum of Modern Art NY, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Guggenheim Museum NY to mention a few.

Rosalind Tallmadge, originally from Cincinnati Ohio, works in her studio in Brooklyn NY. Rosalind has a BFA from Indiana University and a MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, in 2015.
Five panels represent the cycles of the seasons and the relationship between terrain and time- honored craft of fine wine. Rosalind’s goal is to create organically, with no specific plan in mind, to make art that integrates with the owner’s life. Here she is using old world materials sourced from nature with a new world perspective, much as Baron Philippe and Robert Mondavi. For Rosalind, the artistic process is very romantic. The California light reflects quiet luminous surfaces differently with each daylight hour.

Makota Kagoshima, S. Island Japan, 2019
Makoto Kagoshima is exclusively represented in the United States by Chariots on Fire in Venice, CA
Makoto Kagoshima is based in the southern island of Japan. He approaches his ceramic work in individual and handcrafted nature. He draws images on clay, often expressions of nature – roses blooming, birds in flight – depicting the natural and sometimes the unnatural world. He is mindful of function and beauty in his work.
Recently he has cooperated with Ritsuko Yagi from Chariots on Fire in Los Angeles to realize his lively ceramic designs in fabrics.

Scott Johnson, chief architect for Opus One, from Johnson Fain Partners Los Angeles CA states; “… our intent to convey the sense of rationalism of French Classical architecture without being literal in details. …to have the building rooted to the California landscape and to use native oak and redwood throughout the winery to resonate a sense of the New World.
Redwood and Oak are indigenous to California. The ceiling is designed to remind us of the inside of a wine barrel head.

Triptych Geisha and Maiko watercolor.
Yoshimasa Yamahira, Kobe Japan Born 1932.
Yoshimasa Yamahira is a painter in Japan. He studied under Shimei Terashima (1892-1975) who is well known for his watercolors of beautiful women, especially Maiko (apprentice Geisha). Yamahira followed in these traditional footsteps and is also known for his painting of Geisha in traditional dress and activity. Our first example, a triptych, depicts musicians, dancers and tea ceremony. The second painting is of a Geisha and Maiko. These paintings were a gift to Opus One from Hajime Takada, a long time Global Elite supporter of Opus One and dear friend to the winery.
